Tree on Hillside - Plein Air, The Blue Ridge Parkway

Tree on Hillside was painted from the Peaks of Otter Lodge grounds on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. There is so much to paint up there. Sometimes it’s hard to settle down. Generally artists, including me, are drawn to Abbot Lake and the Peaks. However, often when I’ve come home from painting there, my thoughts have gone back to this small simple cluster of trees that seem to touch the sky. On this early autumn day, I painted them.
